Each year, approximately 100–120 police-reported road traffic accidents involve vehicles transporting dangerous goods, excluding wildlife-related accidents.
Of these, around 15–20 accidents per year result in some form of release of dangerous goods, commonly referred to as a dangerous goods incident.
This means that most accidents involving vehicles transporting dangerous goods do not result in a release.
At the same time, more than two trucks overturn every day in Sweden, which highlights the importance of planning and carrying out transport in a safe manner.
